External Video Editing Timecode Reader (Betso TCD-1 Time Code Display)

I always wondered how Post houses set-up external Video Editing Timecode Readers in their Edit Suites. I wanted the final professional touch on my Remote Video Editing suite. I am also a gear hobbyist. It took me a while to figure this out. I got an amazing Timecode Reader / Display for Video Editing that came out years ago. I was researching this for a while and figured out how to set it up. I run it through the LTC out port of my AJA IO XT Box via BNC to Lemo5 Pin Time Code Cable. Shot out to Gotham Sound. This Betso Timecode Reader is able to read any fed timecode source. I have tried it on Avid and Premiere and works perfectly reading HD 1080i/p 29.97/23.976 timelines. They use this one on location, but I figured why not see if I can use it for editing, works great! The way to make this work is to have a IO box with LTC Out (like the AJA IO XT in my case). I was not paid by them by the way or doing endorsement, this blog post is because I love this product and love great products. This is not inexpensive by the way, and not necessary, but I love the gear stuff!

Bottom line – this is a high precision time code accurate device. I was shocked how quickly once you set it up – It reads and displays timecode clearly  and right away! Great company. Thanks to Jan at Betso for developing this – he answered all my questions.

I found exactly what I want – To display Hours, Minutes, Seconds, and Frames. I noticed some readers only display HMS and not frames.
